Window prices in Hassocks

Whole-house prices for Victorian villas, 1920s and 1930s semis and post-war homes

These are whole-house prices for the kinds of houses found in Hassocks, smallest job first. Each one covers supply, fitting, removal of the old windows and VAT.

For first-floor windows, note that where a tower is needed, this may add around £150. A firm figure follows the free home visit, and the detailed survey waits until you say yes. Odd-shaped heads, very large sashes and anything else built specially for one house cost more than standard sizes.

Smaller jobs

Quoting a lone window is no problem. It carries a call-out charge on top, which we explain on the phone; from three windows upwards the job is a normal day on site at the standard rate.

What is not on this page

There are no per-window price lists here, because the same window can cost very different amounts depending on its size, position and finish. A short call gives you a realistic range for your house in a few minutes.

What moves the price on a Hassocks house

  • Colour. A heritage colour or woodgrain finish costs more than white, as the 1920s semi above shows. On the red brick and render here many owners still think it worth it.
  • Profile. Flush casements are dearer than chamfered, and steel-look aluminium dearer again, because of the slim sections and real bars.
  • Bays. A bay is three windows joined at angles, often with hidden bay poles to carry the roof, so it is priced as a unit.
  • Height. Upstairs windows on most Hassocks houses are fitted from a mobile tower, not scaffold.
  • Listing. A listed house usually needs timber made to copy the old windows, which is the dearest route of all.

What every price includes

Each figure covers the new windows, fitting, removal of the old frames, filling and sealing round each new one, the FENSA certificate and VAT. Painting or papering over disturbed plaster afterwards is not included, and neither is repainting timber windows later on. Trickle vents, safety glass where the regulations call for it and new internal sills where needed are all priced in at the home visit.

Price questions

Are these prices fixed?

They are realistic ranges for the kinds of houses found in Hassocks. The written quotation for your house follows the free home visit, and nobody surveys until you have accepted it.

Is VAT included?

Yes. Every price on this page includes VAT, supply, fitting and removal of the old windows.

Why is there a range and not a single figure?

Because sizes, colours, glass and hardware vary from house to house. The lower figure fits a plain specification on smaller openings, the higher one larger windows and more extras.
